Welcome to my Walk & Play L.A. page. Our team, Rex and the Heartbeaters, are excited to once again take part in the ninth annual Walk & Play LA in support of Childrres’s Hospital Los Angeles. Our team was founded in memory of my grandson, Rex Michael Becerra, who was born to my daughter Elisha, and my son in law Billy on March 17,2017. He was quickly diagnosed with Heart Disease and within 9 hours of birth was transported to two hospitals. When those hospitals could not handle the magnitude of his heart condition, he was immediately taken to CHLA where he underwent open heart surgery. The surgery was successful, however Rex’s heart was too weak to overcome the recovery of the damage from birth to the time he arrived at CHLA. After watching him decline to a condition we understood he could not return, my daughter and her husband held him in their arms as life support (ECMO)was removed and he peacefully joined the angels in Heaven on April 4, 2017. In his short time on earth he left a lasting impression our family will cherish. We appreciate the outstanding support from friends and family, and the incredible staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles! More children receive care from CHLA then any other hospital in the region, and often CHLA comes to the rescue when other hospitals run out of medical options or don’t have the expertise to treat young patients. Walk & Play supports the only hospital dedicated solely to the health of children inn Los Angeles!
