Welcome to My Personal Page
I am deeply grateful for the generous financial support my friends and family have shown over the years for the CHLA Dog Therapy Program. CHLA requires a commitment of 48 volunteer hours a year and I am happy to say my dogs have exceeded that number by leaps and bounds.
February 2024 marked my 18th year volunteering at CHLA with my dogs. During that time my dogs, Bruce, Bobbi, Bonner, Willow and Gordon, have visited patients for a total of 3,364 hours. That is 2,500 hours more than is required of them and they enjoyed every minute!!! I am happy to say I am in the process of training a new puppy Weber. He will be eligible to test to become a registered therapy dog with Pet Partners in May when he turns one year old. Fingers crossed he will be bringing smiles to CHLA patients very soon.
This is my eighth year participating in the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Walk LA event and I am happy to say I have been the top fundraiser five times and our team Paws for a Cause a top fundraiser as well.
In 2023 the Dog Therapy program roster of 92 different dog therapy teams served more than 76,000 people and ensured that 870 patients every month received the benefits of a one-on-one dog therapy visit at their bedside, during treatment or therapy or while visiting a clinic.
Last October I bought the dogs a new minivan and sold their old one. When I met with a prospective buyer, he asked me what my license plate CHLAK9 meant. I explained my connection with the dog therapy program. He proceeded to pull up a picture on his phone of a dog visit he and his wife had at Children’s Hospital when their baby was in NICU for a month. The dog in their photo was my boy Gordon who will celebrate his tenth year visiting CHLA this April.
If you are able, please consider donating to the CHLA Dog Therapy Program. This program is funded entirely from private donations and relies on the generosity of our supporters to keep us going year after year.
