Welcome to My Personal Page
Welcome to my page!
This year, our whole family including therapy dog Kacey, will be participating in Walk & Play L.A. to raise money for the dog therapy program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, my labor of love these past 15 years. Our team, Paws for a Cause, is open to all who wish to help us raise much needed operating expenses for this beloved program. Dog therapy at CHLA serves everyone from the tiniest patients to their hardworking medical providers, and is funded entirely through donations. In 2023, our roster of nearly 100 different dog therapy teams served more than 76,000 people and ensured that roughly 900 patients every month receive the benefits of a one-on-one dog therapy visit at the bedside, during treatment or therapy or while visiting a clinic.
This will be my eighth straight year participating in this fundraiser. I am lucky to be working alongside my 3rd therapy dog, Kacey, and in honor of previous therapy dogs Elsie and Wrigley. I am even more fortunate to have tested, trained and mentored hundreds of therapy dog teams over the past 15 years, and have seen the impact so many different dogs can have in different ways in the lives of tens of thousands of patients.
More children receive care from CHLA than any other hospital in the region-- and often CHLA comes to the rescue for children when other hospitals run out of medical options for their care. The Amerman Family Foundation Dog Therapy Program is CHLA's robust in-house Dog Therapy Program. The program ensures that patients and families receive the support of registered therapy dog teams in ways that are unique and meaningful of their needs. Dog Therapy is an entirely donor-funded program that relies on this fundraising event to raise a consequential part of the annual operating budget.
Please join our efforts to raise $100,000 for dog therapy via Walk & Play L.A.
Join our team (Paws for a Cause) and create your own fundraising page, or make a donation in support of more therapy dogs helping more patients in more creative ways.
Your charitable gift will make a difference in the lives of many young patients and their families. Any amount, big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will help us create hope and build healthier futures for the families of Southern California and beyond.
Sincerely,
Kate
