Literally Healing at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is an innovative reading program that gifts patients and their families more than 70,000 books annually. During a period when literacy opportunities can be hard to find, Literally Healing strengthens reading skills and facilitates book-related activities and events for patients of all ages. Children can choose a new book to keep every day, distracting from and normalizing their hospital experience one story at a time.

In addition to recreational books, our program is home to a signature collection of therapeutic titles. These highly specialized resources are provided in partnership with hospital clinicians to help our patient families cope with and navigate the difficult challenges they face because of the child's serious medical condition.

From bedside reading and book deliveries by our compassionate volunteers, to special story times in our colorful Reading Room, our work would not be possible without the generous support of our community.
