CHLA Swim Clinics

When you fundraise at least $350, you get access to the Ocean Water Swim Clinic Series! Once you get to the $350 threshold, email triathlon@chla.usc.edu for the link to register for the clinics! See below for details on this year’s clinics:

Times

  • Arrival Time: 7:25 am.
  • Swim Clinics: 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Parking

  • At Bayshore, there is free street parking along Ocean Blvd. as well as a paid parking lot at the 54th and Claremont Lot, 5400 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803. Download the Passport Parking App. The lot at Bayshore is Zone 9372.
  • At Alamitos Beach, you can park at:
    • Alamitos Beach Lot, 380 E Shoreline Dr, Long Beach, CA 90802 (Zone 9377 on the Passport Parking App)
    • Marina Green Parking Lot, 420 Shoreline Village Dr, Long Beach, CA 90802 (Zone 9378 on the Passport Parking App)

* Please be mindful of what is visible in your vehicle. We recommend you do not leave valuables in your car. Volunteers will be on site to watch your possessions during the swim clinics.

The CHLA Swim Clinic Series is designed to teach you swimming techniques and prepare you for race day. Triathlon swim coaches will be there to guide you and ensure your safety. Triathlon swim coaches will be there to guide you and ensure your safety.

Who can participate?

  • The CHLA Swim Clinic Series is exclusively for fundraising participants who have raised a minimum of $350 for pediatric cancer research at CHLA.
  • Friends and family are not able to participate in the clinic.
  • Your fundraising page must show you have met the minimum by 3:00 p.m. on Friday prior to each Saturday clinic to qualify for registration.

What time should I arrive?

  • Please arrive no later than 7:25 a.m. to ensure you have time to change into your wetsuit.
  • Registration closes at 7:55 a.m. Any arrivals after this time will not be allowed to swim. The clinic will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.

What should you bring?

  • Goggles – These will be important to see in the water.
  • Wetsuit – The water is pretty chilly, so we recommend you bring a wetsuit.
  • Change of clothes, towel, sunscreen, etc.
